- בּוֹחַלm. (בחל I) prop. aversion, sickness, hence (cmp. באש) a certain stage in the growth of the fig (intermediate between פגה and צמל), when its head becomes white; trnsf. the stage of female puberty intermediate between childhood (ילדות) and full womanhood (בגרות). Nidd.V, 7 the Scholars have introduced figurative terms for the stages of womanhood: paggah, boḥal ; ב׳ אלו ימי נעוריה boḥal means the days of maidenhood. V. בָּחַל.
